The Society of Wetland Scientists’ Pacific Northwest Chapter will be holding several field trips this May as a part of the Society of Wetland Scientists’ National Wetland Month activities.
Wetland Month’s Central Washington trip will travel from the confluence of the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers in Leavenworth, WA to major tributaries, discussing the ecology, geology, hydrology, climate, and human history of the Wenatchee River Watershed.
During the trip we will stop at points of interest and tour several floodplain and aquatic habitat restoration projects across major Wenatchee River tributaries, including Nason Creek and the White River. Where possible, restoration projects will be presented by project sponsors.
The trip includes van transportation from Leavenworth to field sites and have coffee and lunch catered by Leavenworth’s Local Yokel. Afterward there will be an ad hoc social hour in downtown Leavenworth where attendees can mingle and talk wetlands while sampling local craft beverages. Register to reserve your spot on what will be an engaging and fun floodplain field trip!
