Event Description

Leadership & Lessons Learned: a Two-Part In-Person Workshop

Part Two: Accidental Library Leadership, or How I Turned an Unlikely Beginning into Something to Share

Thursday, April 7, 2022
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Palm Beach County Library System - Hagen Ranch Road Branch

SEFLIN is excited to host the 2-part in-person workshop: Leadership & Lessons Learned. Join our guests Douglas Crane and Maxine Bleiweis as they explore "leadership" practices and career pathways in today's libraries. Library staff of all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Part Two: PM Session

Hear how our speaker’s stumble into the library world reaped unexpected and wide-ranging results.  Then examine your own assets and leave with a new view of what could be next for you with a personal plan of action.

Maxine Bleiweis had no business becoming a public librarian.  She rarely followed rules and shuddered at keeping things in order.  Hear how she turned her assets into triumphs (peppered with failures) as she directed libraries in Connecticut and, to her surprise, was awarded ALA’s Charlie Robinson Award for Innovative Leadership.
