We welcome you to participate in the 2021 FMYI Teen Film Festival
South East Florida Library Information Network (SELIN) and Miami-Dade Public Library System have collaborated to create the Fearless, Mindful Youth Initiative (FMYI); a year-round, library-centered program that provides support for teenagers. The FMYI is a project that serves as an example of how libraries can leverage their resources to help underserved youth maneuver through challenging life experiences while being afforded opportunities to reach their full potential. Librarians and community-based organizations have pooled their resources to provide multimedia training, reading literacy, STEAM workshops (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics), business trainings, mentors, and role models to help teens in our Southeast Florida Communities.
Join us as we can engage with community organizations to build equity and support for teens, so they can become the future leaders that they deserve to be! Conversations will include topics such as trauma-informed services, community asset mapping, creating policy change, building equity and racial justice, to support young people in finding success.
This is a virtual event via zoom.
