Event Description

Ryan Dowd
Chief Empathy Officer at Homeless Training Institute

Ryan has spent most of his career running a large homeless shelter outside of Chicago, Illinois. In addition, he trains organizations around the world how to compassionately manage problematic behavior from troubled individuals. He is a licensed attorney and author of the American Library Association book, "The Librarian's Guide to Homelessness." Ryan is ecstatically married (Krissie) with two fantastic children (Cameron and Hailey).

Some of the issues covered:

  • The psychology behind hoarding (Hint: It is not about the stuff!)
  • Why you're probably handling it wrong
  • How to do a last-minute cleanup (the right way!)before someone gets evicted
