Have you always wanted to improve your research skills when it comes to genealogy? Whether for your patrons or your personal queries, this course will help you locate historical finds and organize genealogy-related records. If you are just getting started or looking to take your research skills to the next level, get ready to explore the past in this four-week course. .

• Locate relevant genealogy databases, resources, archives, and history centers
• Facilitate search queries in both digital and physical resources
• Analyze and evaluate historical maps, deeds, and records
• Organize findings and information using appropriate documentation tools
Instructor
Barbara Alvarez has partnered with professionals, organizations, and businesses to research their unique histories and share their powerful stories. She is skilled at conducting extensive genealogy research and has worked on historical projects in community, university, and corporate archives in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Kansas. Barbara's research findings have been published in newspapers, magazines, blogs, and corporate communications. She has also spoken at the University of Iowa, The Ohio State University, Geneva History Center, and libraries in Illinois and Wisconsin about genealogy and history research. Barbara has taught genealogy classes to the public for eight years. She received her M.S. in Library Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
