AIM's History

In 1919, 40 business leaders gathered in Jefferson City to negotiate with  labor unions to create Missouri’s first Workers Compensation law. The law, which was finally passed in 1926, was the first step in creating a statutorily protected pro-business environment in Missouri.

Following the first few meetings of the business representatives, it was decided a permanent organization should be formed to work toward resolving the many issues facing employers in  the state. The result of that discussion was the creation of Missouri’s first trade association named “Associated Industries of Missouri”.

The Association has continued to grow and prosper through the years by taking on the issues of the day, both in the legislative process, as well as in the courts and public venues. While the issues have changed, AIM’s commitment to issue resolution and effective representation has never faltered.
