Pop Up Media Labs
MakerFest
09/30/2020

The Palm Beach County Library’s Pop Up Media Labs are an expansion of their digital media lab, the CreationStation, to 13 branches throughout the system. The Pop Up Media Labs provide the tools for members of the public to create content through video, audio, podcasts, and image editing. Originally intended to be fully hands-on, branches have pivoted to online classes for all ages during the ongoing public health situation. Come see what the library has been offering, including classes on green screen photography/videography, digital preservation with a high-speed scanner, and sound editing with audio equipment and software. In addition to the topics mentioned, the pop up labs also focus on how to protect personal data and personal devices, copyright, and new ways of creating and sharing through digital technologies.

Speaker:
Cat Ng is the Electronic Resources Training Coordinator for Palm Beach County Library System, where she leads technology instructors at 17 branches. She assists staff in planning classes for the public and conducts technology training workshops for all staff. She also oversees the Main Library’s digital media lab, CreationStation, as well as its extension of Pop Up Media Labs at 13 other branches.
