Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Effects (FAS/FAE) are not psychiatric diagnoses although the behavioral and learning sequelae are often profound and interfere prominently with daily functioning throughout life. Unfortunately, the effects of prenatal alcohol use in those whom we work often goes unrecognized. Persons are often misdiagnosed leading to ineffective treatment. This workshop will briefly review some of the behavioral manifestations of persons with FAS and will highlight appropriate treatment approaches for different age groups.
