The objective of this design guide is to assist the design professional in choosing an appropriate reinforced concrete floor system for situations where the effects from vibration must be considered and to provide simplified methods to determine key vibration characteristics of reinforced concrete floor systems that can be used to evaluate whether the anticipated vibration will be acceptable or not.
The guide also discusses general guidelines on how to mitigate and remediate vibration issues for reinforced concrete floor systems in new and existing buildings, respectively. Presented are methods and techniques, along with their advantages and disadvantages, which can be applied in a wide variety of situations.
An addendum to the Design Guide for Vibrations of Reinforced Concrete Floor Systems was released in mid-2019.
