AMTA’s Director of Government Relations, Judy Simpson, teaches the fundamentals of reimbursement in practical terms, helping E-course participants build a solid foundation of knowledge about multiple reimbursement sources, about public and private third party payment systems, and about the specific steps required to access coverage. E-course participants will discover how the process of funding music therapy can vary by clinical setting, client diagnosis, and payment source, and will learn industry terminology, procedural coding information, billing forms, and other key elements of reimbursement. This AMTA E-course equips each listener with the knowledge and tools that make it possible to secure funding for making top-quality music therapy services more accessible to individuals of all ages in a variety of clinical settings.

This cutting-edge AMTA E-course allows participants to study at their leisure, and equips each listener with the most up-to-date tools and reimbursement information necessary for seeking funding to make top-quality music therapy services more accessible to individuals of all ages in a variety of clinical settings. Includes 5 CMTE credits for music therapy professionals. AMTA is a pre-approved provider (#P-051) with CBMT and maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria. E-course publish date: November 2012.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Learner will Identify reimbursement sources and demonstrate awareness of music therapy coverage from each source. (2015 CBMT Board Certification Domains IV. B. 13, 16, 17, 18.)  2. Learner will demonstrate understanding of the steps required when seeking reimbursement for music therapy services from private insurance companies. (III. A. 6, 7, and IV. B. 9, 10.)  3. Learner will define common terminology and list coding systems used within the insurance industry. (III. A. 6, 7. and IV. B. 13, 18.)  4. Learner will demonstrate knowledge of professional resources and tools recommended for pursuing third party coverage. (III. A. 6, 7. and IV. A. 2. and IV. B. 7.)

Once you purchase this item, you must download the e-course workbook with instructions and links for listening to or watching the course. Go to the AMTA website and log in on the left side using the QuickLink, “My Account>Login.”  After logging into your AMTA online account with your primary email and password, go to the top tab “My Transactions,” and the “My Downloadable Products” link, then click on the item to open it. Save to your local computer.  This purchase will remain available in your account for one year from the purchase date.

Note: The cost of each e-course purchase entitles one individual to participate in and complete the e-course for CMTE credit. If a course is being purchased for multiple individuals, it must be purchased separately for each participant. Please email the national office if you are purchasing a course for someone other than yourself so credit can be applied to that person's record.
