Marlon Moore
Trauma-Informed, Technology and Holistic Programming for At-Risk Teens
About the Moderator

Marlon Moore began his career at the Miami-Dade Public Library System as the Project Coordinator, managing the Library’s first teen technology program, called YOUmedia Miami, from 2011 to 2015. He has helped hundreds of teens learn technology, graduate from high school and secure college scholarships. Since then, Marlon has been tasked with increased responsibilities, including managing the Library’s YOUmake Miami maker space at the Miami Beach Regional Library as well as the maker space and the Coworking Center at the West Kendall Regional Library. Marlon also manages the Technobus; the Library’s innovative mobile technology education lab, which won the 2019 Florida Library Association’s Innovation Award.
Mr. Moore holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Florida State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Degree at Florida State University. He has helped develop system-wide library initiatives such as adult computer classes, robotics programs, Hackathons at the Library, drone education classes, immersive spatial computing technology throughout Miami-Dade County Libraries, and college and career opportunities for students. His work has helped the Miami-Dade Public Library System receive five National Association of Counties (NACo) Awards in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2019 for YOUmedia Miami, YOUmake Miami, the Technobus and the Coworking Center and the Climate of Art art exhibit, as well as the 2019 FLA Library Innovation Award for the MDPLS Technobus.
Marlon is a proponent of educating at-risk teens through the use of music, fine arts, dance, multimedia production and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics (STEAM). He regularly presents informative and interactive speaking presentations at national and international conferences and workshops.
