Supporting Survivors in Libraries
June 15, 2020

Sexual violence affects millions of Americans. As librarians and library workers, we have the opportunity to create interactions that are positive and healing for survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence. This webinar will explore the unique information needs of survivors and how we can support survivors, as both patrons and colleagues.

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the unique information needs of survivors.
  • Identify some ways your library can support survivors, as both patrons and colleagues.
  • Consider ways to create positive, healing, interactions with survivors seeking library services.

Presenter: Karina Hagelin

Karina Hagelin is a disabled, queer femme, artist, community organizer, and librarian currently based in Ithaca, New York where they work at Cornell University as an Outreach and Instruction Librarian. They are also a First-Year Academic Librarian blogger for the ACRLog.
