The Associate Membership is available to any health care professional who is not a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant and who holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in a field supportive of obesity medicine. International individuals with equivalent credentials or degrees may also apply for associate membership.
Associate members are eligible to vote but not hold elected office.
Membership is not finalized until an OMA staff member has reviewed and processed the application.
OMA membership dues are deductible as a normal business expense. However, federal tax law disallows deductions related to certain types of lobbying. OMA estimates that in 2019, 4 percent of dues will be used for lobbying activities. Hence, 96 percent of your dues are deductible as a normal business expense.
