A list of our committees is presented below:
  • Affiliate
    Be responsible for facilitating communications between Affiliates and REALTORS® to solve mutual concerns. Disseminate pertinent information regarding those items. Promote mutually beneficial relationships between members. Make recommendations to the Board of Directors on ways that the Association can assist the Affiliates and ways that the Affiliates can assist the Association.

  • Commercial
    Provides products, services and education for commercial real estate practitioners in cooperation with the Education Committee.
  • Community Outreach Committee
    Act as liaison between Association and local communities Conduct programs involving REALTORS® which serve the interests of the communities and enhance the image of the Association and its members Suggest ways to encourage more community involvement by REALTORS®
  • Education
    Develop and provide ongoing Connecticut continuing education classes Coordinate and conduct the Association Orientation program for new members Promote ECAR, CAR and NAR education programs and services Provide a Principles and Practices course for new licensees Develop and provide new sources of non-dues income Offer designation courses, such as GRI, CRS, CRB, ABR, and SRES to the membership.
  • Finance
    Prepare ECAR and ECARCEF operating budgets for review and approval by the Boards of Directors. Review monthly financial reports in order to monitor budget performance. Understand and explain to members all financial matters relating to Association operations. Provide and create sources of continuing non-dues revenue. Develop and periodically review financial policies. Monitor investments to maximize the Association’s return on investments. Review and make recommendations regarding financial requests by committees to the Board of Directors. Annually develop a five year capital plan.
  • Forms
    Recommend changes to the current Association forms for approval by the Board of Directors. Create new Association forms, as needed, for approval by the Board of Directors. with the Education Committee, the Technology & MLS Committee, and any other appropriate committee to educate members on any changes to the Association forms, as needed.
  • Government Affairs
    Recommend creation of subgroups to deal with specific concerns resulting from local governmental actions affecting the real estate industry and/or private property rights. Recommend appropriate positions on legislative issues to the Board of Directors. Work to maintain cooperative relationships with government officials at all levels. Encourage political involvement by members. Participate in appropriate governmental activities of the state and national associations. Disseminate educational and informational materials to the members, the public and the media. Annually coordinate and conduct an RPAC fundraising effort. Encourage the Connecticut Association of REALTORS® to support legislation that would strengthen pre-license and continuing education requirements in order to increase the level of professionalism Monitor local and regional private property right issues. Use the ECAR website and email communications for legal alerts to the members and the public Maintain a database of members who serve in appointed and elected state or municipal positions. Members of the Board of Directors shall serve as ex-officio members of the Government Affairs Committee.
  • Grievance
    Review all complaints regarding ethics and arbitration received by the Association and determine the appropriate course of action. Refer complaints to the Professional Standards Committee for hearings, when appropriate. Make recommendations to the Education Committee on appropriate educational programs. Originate allegations of an ethics complaint and assist as the complainant for the Association. Attend Professional Standards training at least once every two years. Members shall attend professional standards training at least every two years
