The annual UTA convention is the largest used commercial truck meeting of the year attracting 750+ attendees from North America. The 22 nd Annual Convention in Nashville will be a large celebration as it has been two years since the UTA membership has gathered.

AGENDA

The UTA’s Annual Convention is one of the best networking and learning opportunities in the commercial truck industry and the largest dedicated independent commercial used truck event. The Convention’s end-of-year timing allows attendees to celebrate the past year, while gaining an upper hand on the competition for the following year.

FEATURED SPEAKERS

Thursday, November 11

Keynote Address: Mark Eaton

MARK EATON is a successful motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and best-selling author of The Four Commitments of a Winning Team, who has earned the coveted CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) designation, the speaking profession’s highest international measure of professional competence. He has spoken to numerous world-class organizations including IBM, FedEx, Phillips 66, Caesars Entertainment, T-Mobile, LG, and businesses, government agencies and universities at every level. He has been a featured team-building expert on Forbes.com, Inc.com, Wharton Business Radio, Entrepreneur.com and Sports Illustrated.

Eaton is an NBA All-Star who played with the Utah Jazz for 12 seasons, led the NBA in blocked shots 4 of those seasons, was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team 5 times, was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year 2 times, and still holds 2 NBA records—most blocks in a single season (456) and career average blocked shots per game (3.5).

In addition to his work on team building, Eaton is managing partner in two award-winning restaurants in Salt Lake City, Tuscany, and Franck’s, recently voted Best Restaurant in Utah.

He is also founder and former chairman of the Mark Eaton Standing Tall for Youth Foundation, which provided sports and outdoor opportunities for more than 3,000 at-risk children. He is a former president and board member of the Legends of Basketball, which supports the needs of retired NBA players. He attended Cypress College and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Eaton’s television and radio experience includes eight years as host of Jazz Tonight on KJZZ-TV, host of Mark Eaton Outdoors on The Outdoor Channel, and three years as host of Sports Health Today, an internationally syndicated radio show.

When Mark is not speaking, writing, or working he enjoys traveling with his wife Teri, horseback riding, mountain biking, skiing, and the outdoors. He lives in Park City, Utah with his wife, children, horses, dogs, and barn cats.

Chris Kuehl is a frequent economic commentator for local and national media, a conference speaker, author for various trade publications and is a founding partner of Armada Corporate Intelligence. Founded in 2000 Armada is a thank tank and strategy office. Armada provides economic forecasts, industry analysis, corporate intelligence, and market assessment for clients in a variety of industries. Typically Mr. Kuehl gives on average 150 presentations a year in the U.S. and internationally on economic issues.

Friday, November 12

Steve Tam, is a VP for ACT Research and leads the used truck market research and analysis efforts for this organization. ACT Research is a recognized leader in data, market analysis and forecasting for the commercial vehicle industry. ACT’s services are used by all major North American truck, trailer and drive-line manufacturers, industry suppliers’ banks and investment firms.

Marvin F. Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award Winner will be the highlight speaker at the Friday Awards luncheon which is always a special moment for the convention attendees. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 in-person convention as a special treat 2020 LTA winner Bobby Williams will introduce the 2021 LTA Recipient.

 
 

WORKSHOPS / PANELS

A cornerstone benefit of being a UTA member is education. Each year the UTA brings together experts to teach and share their knowledge and tips with convention attendees. These sessions will being attendee’s practical insights they can be implemented immediately to generate more profitable operations.

Used Warranties

A warranty on a used truck can be a powerful asset for your customer, in fact it could keep your customer in business. For you it can provide peace of mind knowing your customer has protection. During this session we will dig into warranties, their benefits and how to profitably sell them.

Appraisals & Evaluations

Properly assessing a used truck is gained from experience and the insights of trusted colleagues and often is the difference in profit or a significant loss. With the inventory situation in 2021 learn of valuation trends and what to expect going into 2022.

OEM Panel

Leaders from each OEM will be on hand to give insights to the direction of the used truck, the overall commercial truck market and speak to any key concerns as we close out the year. They will share success and insights in how to handle the upcoming market challenges.

Emerging Technologies

The technological advancements of commercial trucks in the last decade is simply amazing and now these technologies, once optional features, are becoming standard. This session will give guidance and an overview of the technology in the trucks we are trading for and how we in the used truck market can effectively coach our customers while increasing our profits.

Exhibitors

The 2021 Vendor Expo will be held Thursday, November 11, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and booth space is available to Silver level sponsors or higher. This new time allows exhibitors time to network with customers after the Vendor Expo. Booth space sells out, so do not be left out this year. Reserve your space as soon as possible.

Door prizes will be awarded by random drawings for those who get their Expo Map stamped by exhibitors. The drawing winners are announced at the Awards Luncheon on Friday.

The Best at Expo Award is also back! Chosen by popular vote, the best exhibitor booth display receives deserved recognition. This award adds an element of fun and engagement to the Vendor Expo and is presented during the Friday Awards Luncheon.

The UTA is taking over the entire third floor of Nashville’s Topgolf roof-top venue and its thirty-four golf bays. Topgolf® Experience

NEW! Wednesday, November 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The UTA will host a Topgolf® Experience open to registered UTA convention attendees. The UTA is taking over the entire roof top of Nashville’s Topgolf and its thirty-four golf bays. This is a perfect networking kickoff to your convention experience.

This favorite event is your opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new contacts while enjoying food, drinks, and some of that famous Nashville music.

Vendor Expo

This is a must attend event. Join the UTA Thursday, November 11 from 3:30 – 6:30 for food and drinks as you network and communicate with UTA service and product providers that will positively affect your bottom-line. In addition, this is your chance for one-on-one discussions with OEM representatives to learn about emerging technologies that will impact trades resale value and performance.

Thursday Networking Lunch

Nurturing and building new relationships is the backbone of the UTA Convention and your dealerships. So, while you take time to refuel before the afternoon keynote address, OEM panel and vendor expo this will be your opportunity to make new connections in a relaxed atmosphere.

Friday Awards Lunch

This is time to gather and celebrate 2021 and those individuals that made a significant positive difference. This awards lunch will be a bit more special as it has been two years since we came together as a group. At the awards lunch the individual member awards, rookie of the year and one of the industries most prestigious awards, the Marvin F. Gordon Lifetime Achievement, will be presented.

On Broadway with the UTA

After the Awards Lunch on Friday afternoon the UTA will load up buses and head to Nashville's historic Broadway and the world famous Wildhorse Saloon for more networking, great food and entertainment.
