Virtual Services on a Short Timeline with a Small Budget
Friday, April 10, 2020
11:30 am - 1:00 pm EST
This is an unprecedented time for our libraries and communities. Many of us have been providing virtual services for years, but for many of us, these are now the only services patrons can access and we need to provide them without access to the physical library.
This workshop will help you figure out what your library needs to get your staff and your customers up to speed fast. If you’re new to these services, you’ll learn to get started fast, and if you’re experienced, you’ll learn how you can expand and adjust to the current situation.
After Participating In this Event, You Will:
- Be able to take a digital Inventory; to inventory the digital resources and services your library currently offers and determine how easy they are for customers to find.
- Figure out what your customers need when they can’t visit your library building.
- Understand several ways to share those library resources with customers, using your website, social media, and other local resources.
- Learn how to assess what tools and skills does your staff need to be able to work from home.
- Learn ideas for setting up some things quickly so you can “get it done” with an eye toward future proofing your library.
