From the Marrakesh Treaty to provincial accessibility legislation to patrons with disabilities practicing self-advocacy: the onus is on libraries and library staff to respond quickly and competently to requests for accessible and/or alternate format material. This session will provide you with information and examples related to accessible PDF production. You will learn the basics of moving from Word to PDF, scanner to PDF, and integrating essential accessibility features into your document production workflows.
Participants will learn about:
1) accessible document principles such as OCR, alt text, headings, and reading order;
2) the process of converting a Word document into an Adobe PDF;
3) the process of converting a scanned PDF into a PDF with accessible text.

About the Presenter:

She is a Layout Editor with Partnership: the Canadian Journal of Library and Information Practice and Research, and an MAEd candidate at MSVU.
