Event Description

Ryan Dowd
Chief Empathy Officer at Homeless Training Institute

Ryan has spent most of his career running a large homeless shelter outside of Chicago, Illinois. In addition, he trains organizations around the world how to compassionately manage problematic behavior from troubled individuals. He is a licensed attorney and author of the American Library Association book, "The Librarian's Guide to Homelessness." Ryan is ecstatically married (Krissie) with two fantastic children (Cameron and Hailey).

Some of the issues covered:

• The four stages of a fight (and why "Stage 2" is the best place to stop it).
• How two staff (or one staff) should break up a fight.
• What the research says about bystanders and fights.
• And much more!

Workbook will be emailed from ryan@homelesslibrary.com on Wednesday, June 23.

Want to receive weekly tips from Ryan on how to work with homeless, addicted and mentally ill patrons?  Sign up here.
