As a format, comics cover so many genres, subject matter and identities, which makes comic collecting exciting, but also overwhelming. Comics advocates Lindsay Gibb and Andrew Woodrow-Butcher will give webinar attendees an in-depth look into best-practices for comics collection development including the ways library workers can build a better understanding of what comics work in their libraries.

You will learn:
1) Comics collection development
2) How to grow readership for comics
3) The breadth of subjects comics can cover

About the presenters:

Lindsay Gibb is the Collection Development Librarian at OCAD University. As a journalist and librarian, Gibb has most recently written about comics for a chapter in the book Comics and Critical Librarianship, and she co-programs an annual day of professional development about comics librarianship as part of the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. She is also the author of the book National Treasure: Nicolas Cage an award-winning reflection on Nicolas Cage’s acting style from ECW Press.

Andrew Woodrow-Butcher is the Director of Library Services for renowned comic shop The Beguiling Books & Art.
