Kidney Transplantation

This session will discuss the indications and contraindications for kidney transplantation, how to evaluate patients for kidney transplant, how to evaluate for potential surgical complications, infections, or rejection, how to monitor the patient during post-operative care, and how to evaluate the discharge and follow-up plan post-transplant. Information will incorporate UNOS listing and allocation requirements specific to the kidney.

This module consists of education content followed by a quiz to test the participant's knowledge of the subject matter. 

After completion of this course the attendee will be able to:

• Review Indications/Contraindications to kidney transplantation
• Understand the donor selection and acceptance processes required for kidney transplantation
• Review UNOS listing and allocation processes specific to kidney transplantation
• Understand possible long-term complications of kidney transplantation
