Workplace Bullying and Violence: Tactical and Ethical Guidance for Social Work
Incidents of workplace bullying and violence have intensified over the past decade, particularly in health and behavioral health settings. Their presence interferes with all that these settings strive to be; safe, client-centered, quality-driven, and approached through an interprofessional team effort. In addition, practitioners are being exposed to concerning levels of risk, plus trauma from each incident.
This presentation explores the varied dynamics of two concerning disrupters for workforce, workplace bullying and violence. Focus will be on the scope and incidence of both issues as they impact the social work field instruction community. Tactical guidance will be provided on how to identify and manage bullying boss and leadership situations, violence on the job, plus workforce resilience strategies. Special attention will be placed on how bullying contradicts with professional ethical codes and standards of practice across the social work profession. Attendees will be introduced to emerging laws and industry initiatives, plus unique strategies to empower their ability to manage these oppressive, traumatic, and often fatal behaviors.

Bullying has fostered a dangerous culture of silence in the industry, one impacting patient safety, and quality of care delivery. This behavior also poses long term behavioral health implications for professional exposed to it, whether directly or vicariously. Add the escalating numbers specific to workplace violence and the trends speak to an atmosphere of safety and quality in the health care workplace, which puts both clients and professionals at risk.
Attendees will earn 6.0 Category I Contact Hours, including 6.0 Category I Contact Hours of Ethics.

This will be a virtual training. Registrants will be sent an online access code prior to the training.

If a registrant cancels more than 10 days before the event, a refund will be issued by check or credit back to your credit card, minus a 10% administrative fee.
If cancelation occurs less than 10 days prior to the event, no refund will be issued but you may request a credit towards a future training to be used within 1 year of the cancelation date. Call the Chapter Office (804-204-1339) to cancel within 10 days of the training. A request for credit may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director in case of a documented emergency.
