The Manifestation of Childhood Trauma in Adulthood (multi-day training) Part 1: Assessment/Part 2: Treatment
Trauma is a universal concept that every human being endures at some point in their lives. Oftentimes individuals sustain multiple traumas, and some become so pervasive and acute that they can develop into Big “T” traumas that can last for generations. According to SAMSHA, in the US two thirds of children report at least experiencing one traumatic event by age 16. The impact of these traumas often has long lasting effects and can manifest into adulthood trauma, which can affect various domains of functioning. There is a clear and distinct correlation between childhood trauma and later manifestations of adult trauma: addiction, mental health (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), attachment and intimacy issues and resiliency. This workshop will explore the myriad of ways in which childhood trauma clinically, physically, emotionally, and psychologically presents in adulthood. Part 1 will focus on assessment and Part 2 will focus on exploring treatment modalities. Participants will learn how to assess childhood trauma and how to comprehensively gather a historical trauma narrative. This is an interactive workshop where case vignettes will be presented, and participants will work in a group setting.
