Event Description

A framework for working with survivors of sexual violence

Course Description:

RAINN estimates that in the United States, someone experiences sexual violence every 68 seconds. This means that regardless of setting or practice type, social workers will encounter and work with survivors of sexual violence. It is vital that social workers feel equipped to support survivors no matter where the survivor is on their healing journey. In this workshop, participants will learn the research, theoretical and practical framework for sexual trauma, and evidenced based practices to ensure survivors receive appropriate support.

Learning Objectives:

  1. In this workshop we will address the definition of sexual violence, how it impacts relationships, and a framework to work with survivors of sexual violence
  2. Participants will learn about how to support survivors of sexual violence and will learn strategies to assist patient’s in accessing services

Upon completion of this course attendees will earn 2 Category I Contact Hours.
