A Series on Understanding and Nurturing Social Development in Young Children
SESSION TWO
Deborah Weinstock-Savoy, PhD, instructor
This session will explore the importance of the adult-to-child one-to-one relationship as the foundation for social development. We will consider how attachment develops; how it interacts with other aspects of development; and what factors can disrupt the development of attachment. We will pay special attention to how to create a classroom environment for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners that nurtures a sense of secure attachment, as well as how to use daily opportunities such as limit-setting to further strengthen our one-to-one relationship with each child.
