This workshop will inform attendees about the legislative proposals that have been worked on for two years.  We now have the support of the Minnesota State Bar Association/Real Estate Section after making changes to the original language.  After a great deal of work with delays due to Covid, we are now confident we will make changes in the law to help you in your civil process role.

The proposed changes will give you guidance on what to do with overages from mortgage foreclosure sales. This will help to reduce the lawsuits and settlements that are costly to counties.

Many Sheriffs’ offices have been faced with junior creditor redemptions where the junior creditors are in dispute and demand the Sheriff make a decision on what action to take. The proposed legislation will remove this responsibility from the Sheriff and place it where it belongs…in the courts.
