Fintech firms, particularly those operating in the individual and small business lending space, have attracted a great deal of interest in the last several years. We invite you to join us and our distinguished panel of speakers as they provide insights encompassing traditional financial institutions, rating agency views, new entrants into this space and emerging risk themes.
Discussion questions will include:
- Are fintech firms here to stay?
- Will fintech firms fundamentally change the structure of the market?
- How will traditional financial institutions compete and adapt?
Brian King, Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer for Digital Finance, Goldman Sachs
Brian King is chief risk officer for digital finance at Goldman Sachs. In this role, King has the first line of defense responsibility for credit risk, business risk, fraud strategy, and collections strategy for Marcus by Goldman Sachs products. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2018 as a managing director. King has 25 years of consumer and small business banking and lending experience. He joined Goldman Sachs after working at JPMorgan Chase, where his responsibilities included his roles as chief risk officer for card services and operational risk officer for the Consumer and Community Bank. King began his career at MBNA America Bank (acquired by Bank of America) where he held various risk, marketing, analytic, strategy, and operations leadership positions after beginning in their management development program.
King is a founding board member of the Survivor Summit Foundation, which supports cancer survivorship. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University Maryland.
Brendan Browne, Senior Director, Financial Services Ratings, S&P Global Ratings
Brendan Browne, CFA is a senior director on S&P's North American Financial Institutions Ratings Team. As a sector lead on the team, he covers some of the largest U.S. financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Morgan Stanley, and also conducts research on and writes about developments in the bank and nonbank financial institutions industries.
He joined S&P in 2010 and has covered a range of large and regional banks, broker-dealers, and finance companies. Brendan previously worked for four years as an analyst at Endurance Capital, a private equity fund that invested in community banks.
He holds an M.A. in Applied Economics from Miami University and a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
Ashish Jain, Senior Vice President, Capital Markets, SoFi
Ashish Jain joined SoFi in May 2016 and serves as Senior Vice President of Capital Markets. He is responsible for distribution, loan sales, strategic partnerships, and growing SoFi’s institutional outreach. Prior to SoFi, Ashish worked at Deutsche Bank for 13 years. Most recently, he was Managing Director and US Head of Securitized Product Sales, a role he held for 4 years and in which he interacted with some of the world’s largest institutional investors about their investment strategies and portfolios. He began his career in Rates Sales in 2004.
Ashish received a BS in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003 and he has served as a member of the Carnegie Mellon Tepper Alumni Board.
Patricia Kemp, Co-Founder and General Partner, Oak Capital
A top fintech investor, Tricia co-founded Oak HC/FT in 2014 and has 15 years of experience investing in growth equity and early-stage venture opportunities primarily in financial services technology.
Previously, she served as a venture partner at Oak Investment Partners and also has held positions at Cendant (formerly CUC International), where she oversaw marketing, operations and managed direct marketing credit card affinity programs. She also held positions at Hewlett Packard and Merrill Lynch. At various times, she oversaw the marketing, operations or general management of a variety of direct marketing credit card affinity programs.
She has appeared on Institutional Investor's FinTech Finance 40 list.
Tricia received a Bachelor of Arts degree and an MBA degree from Stanford University.
