Protecting Patients and Individuals Against Opioid Overdose and its Associated Costs to Our Healthcare Systems

AMSUS’s Thought Leadership Forums bring together leaders from the federal healthcare system and industry to address a current challenge facing healthcare today.   This Forum will engage panelists in meaningful discussion about the opioid crisis, what is being done at the corporate level and what is being done at the federal health level to address, mitigate and manage the epidemic. Through rich conversation, these diverse leaders will provide insights to the problem at hand and work towards a path forward.

After this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the opioid epidemic and the role of naloxone
  • Develop criteria to identify patients at risk for opioid-induced respiratory depression (OIRD), utilizing real-world evidence
  • Model the real-world evidence data within each participant’s own health system to evaluate impact of current programs and to identify areas for enhancement. Compare geographic differences due to co-prescribing laws or similar other programs
