New York Presbyterian - Columbia University Medical Center

New York, NY

We are recruiting for our Emergency Psychiatry Fellowship for the 2018-2019 academic year.  Emergency psychiatry fellows work in our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), located in a top academic setting, within the New York Presbyterian Hospital at the Columbia Campus.  With a diverse patient population, the CPEP is comprised of 18 psychiatric emergency beds, and 6 Extended Observation Beds.  It is staffed by Psychiatric Attendings, Residents, Registered nurses, students, licensed social workers and admission personnel – a vibrant team of up to 15 people a day, where professional peer support and supervision is also a priority.  Our CPEP is located in an urban community, and has about 6000 visits a year. Exciting new initiatives include provision of telepsychiatry consultations to our remote sister hospitals, and a volunteer lead well-being therapeutic program.

While developing expertise in emergency management of psychiatric patients, fellows teach in our Urgent Psychiatry Lecture Series, and are expected to develop a Quality Improvement project, with potential for publication. There is possibility of combining this fellowship with the Public Psychiatry Fellowship, for dual training. Graduates of our program now hold administrative titles in the hospital or have found work across New York City and nationally. Come join our dynamic group!

We have a competitive benefits package; New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University are an equal opportunity employer. Additional information can be found at: https://www.columbiapsychiatry.org/education-and-training/clinical-fellowships/emergency-psychiatry-fellowship
