Cutting-edge Ethical Issues in Social Work: Protecting Clients (and Ourselves)
Ethical issues in social work change with the times. Standard ethics topics include boundary issues, dual relationships, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, privileged communication, informed consent, clients’ rights, termination of services, and impaired professionals. In recent years, social workers have faced newer, unprecedented ethical issues involving their increased use of digital and other technology to deliver services, communicate with clients, and manage sensitive client information.
In this engaging conference, Dr. Frederic Reamer will move beyond introductory ethics concepts and explore difficult cases with practical strategies designed to protect clients, social workers, and agency administrators. Dr. Reamer will share challenging ethics cases involving conflicting professional duties and discuss practical steps that professionals can take to manage ethical issues skillfully.
Dr. Reamer will discuss relevant ethical standards involving supervision and consultation as well as those relating to Virginia and federal statutes, regulations, and case law. He will also focus on complex documentation issues while addressing ways to prevent ethics-related licensing board complaints and lawsuits.
Attendees will earn 6.0 Category I Contact Hours, including 6.0 Category I Contact Hours of Ethics.
